Studio WillemsPeeters for Nao Kodaira

ClimbingCoffee

When Olympic champion Nao Kodaira told us about her new project, we immediately felt her passion. She envisioned a cozy coffee bar in Nagano, Japan. A vibrant, welcoming place where people could pause, recharge, and feel inspired.

Nao grew up in Nagano, surrounded by the Japanese Alps. As a child, she often climbed mountains with her father – Experiences that shaped her determination and connection to nature. Those climbs became the starting point of her skating journey, and later, the inspiration for the name ClimbingCoffee.

The logo symbol shows the upward trajectory, while the wordmark uses the same soft curves. Those curves visually connect the branding with the interior design.

For this project Nao worked together with: Katsushi Moriyama for the great pictures. Mihadesign, who designed the beautifully curved coffee bar. Sodeshi pottery for the gorgeous handmade ceramic cups.
